[EAN: 9783791352008], [PU: Milwaukee, WI Munich ; New York : Milwaukee Art Museum ; DelMonico Books, an imprint of Prestel], Jacket, An exceptional copy; fine in an equally fine dust wrapper. Particularly and surprisingly well-preserved; tight, bright, clean and especially sharp-cornered. Literally as new.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 215 pages; Physical description; 215 p. : ill. (chiefly col.) ; 33 cm. Published on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Milwaukee Art Museum, Feb. 10 -May 6, 2012. Contents; Art brut and "outsider" art : a changing landscape / Jane Kallir -- "It's a picture already" : the Anthony Petullo Art Collection / Lisa Stone -- Plates -- Checklist of the collection. Summary; Encompassing nearly 300 works, the Anthony Petullo Collection is one of the most impressive compilations of outsider art in the United States. This exhibition catalogue commemorates the gift of the collection to the Milwaukee Art Museum. It includes luminous watercolour and pencil drawings by Henry Darger; former slave and share-cropper Bill Traylor's haunting paintings; the meticulously beautiful graphic works of Martin Ramirez, alongside numerous other pieces by lesser-known artists such as James Lloyd, an English labourer; Domenico Zindato, an Italian draftsman; and Rosemarie Koczy, a former prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp, among many others. Each of these artists spent much of their lives out of the public eye, unaware of notions of artistic trends or celebrity. Their inherent talent and their intense devotion to their art are gloriously evident in this stunningly illustrated and wonderfully diverse volume. Biography; Lisa Stone is the curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, and is a widely published author on self-taught art. She has curated numerous exhibitions, including Eugene Von Bruenchenhein: From the Wand of the Genii, which is presently on view at Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art in Chicago. Subjects; Petullo, Anthony - Art collections - Exhibitions. Milwaukee Art Museum - Exhibitioins. Milwaukee Art Museum - Exhibitions. Outsider art - Exhibitions. 2 Kg. 215 pp.
