This copy is bright, tight, white and square, there is a small neat signature to the f.e.p. The unclipped dustwrapper is in fine condition International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. Where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased charges will be quoted. Wing Commander Joe Northrop was one of a trio of former 'Trenchard Brats' to distinguish themselves as Pathfinders Force leaders during the Second World War. After training at the RAF Apprentices School at Halton in the 1930s where he learned the aircraft engineering skills which were to stand him in good stead later on. Joe was commissioned in April 1940 and became a bomber pilot. In the early part of the war he served in1473 Flight and then in 109 Squadron engaged on the important and highly secret work of developing radio counter measures against the enemy's beam systems, and of developing our own systems. It is a piece of history which will be of interest to aviation readers. Joe Northrop was awarde the AFC in 1943 for his beam flying work and the DFC in 1944 at the end of his tour in 83 Squadron. His great contribution to the bomber offensive was recognised by the award of the DSO in 1945. After the war he stayed in the Air Force until 1959, by which time he held the position of Head of the C-in-C Germany's Joint Secretariat. Ref K2, Books<
