Slightly embellished with scriptural authority, dreamers scrutinize the four letter word above the portal through which they shall pass, step back and note the cornerstone, 1782 A.D. Hesitating briefly before entering the granite structure overlooking a saltwater river, whisperings bewitch the lonely as the door opens with a great creaking.UCS, enter the Universal Casting Studio. An old song on the eternal hit list, customers know the lyrics to 'Conditioned Behavior.' Sensedwith humor in words just so, as creators of our own lives, we all write the books, choose the roles we wish to play, stage, script, arrange the footlights, and hoping everybody else will cooperate, we try to run the show. Stage set.Lights, camera, reaction! An account of life unedited, the story features a cast of real people running down the dream. From Casting to Theatrics midway down a darkened corridor, to the Gathering Hall famous for Relationship Seminars facilitated by legends Jim Morrison & Janis Joplin, the UCS attracts players rife with sentiment, 119,000 homeless children graced by Man's Best Friend, and Co-star Ben Langley, a VT Contractor standing by until Leading Lady Anna Lee comes upon Outlaw Bob Dalton one last time. We are all the love story. No one travels life's highway alone, and no one does. We just think we do until those footlights are adjusted! So the music plays on.And who knows? As the credits roll, one of these characters just might resemble someone whose name you sign.Sweet dream comparative religion, education and reference, mysticism, new age, philosophy, religion and spirituality, religious studies Comparative Religion, Swedenborg Foundation, Incorporated

In The Design of Existence, Wilson Van Dusen offers spiritual explorers a guidebook for mystical experience, describing the inner landscape in detail. Though considering himself a scientist, Van Dusen approaches reality as a mystic, using the writings of 18th-century visionary Emanuel Swedenborg as a lens. For Swedenborg and Van Dusen, our interior realm reflects the external cosmos, which makes a mystical sense of oneness possible: "We are in a massive order, far greater than we can see. Yet we are not alien to this order. We are created out of it." For Van Dusen's mysticism, Swedenborg is the exemplar of universality. A scientist who mastered fields as varied as chemistry, physiology, optics, and metallurgy, Swedenborg turned inward to investigate the psychological and the spiritual. He affirmed the value of other religious cultures and even wrote in gender-inclusive Latin. He had startlingly contemporary insights: he saw that the spiritual must inform everyday experience, that feelings must aid the intellect in seeking the spiritual, that the quest for the soul leads to understanding the cosmos and vice versa. Van Dusen uses Swedenborg's ideas as the basis for a true universal mysticism. In The Design of Existence, he invites each of us to confront mystical experience as proof that we and the cosmos share a spiritual design, which orders our lives as surely as it orders the universe itself. comparative religion, education and reference, mysticism, new age, philosophy, religion and spirituality, religious studies Comparative Religion, Chrysalis Books
