Psychoshop - gebrauchtes Buch

"Brisk, fast, memorable, a rare improvisational duet from two of our best". -- Greg Bear, from the Introduction The Black Place of the Soul-Changer was doing business in Rome six centuries before Christ. It will probably be there on the last day of the cosmos. This is the Psychoshop, where you can dump any unwanted aspect of your spirit as long as you exchange it for something else -- arcane knowledge, a change of luck, or a sixth sense. Just remember: All sales are final. Half finished upon Bester's death, and completed by Zelazny, Psychoshop envisions a commercial establishment that attracts customers from Edgar Allan Poe to a sorcerer intent on fabricating the Beast of Revelations. Brimming with wit and imagination, scandalously sexy and fabulously strange, Psychoshop is science fiction as you've never read it before. "Alfred Bester was one of a handful of writers who invented modern science fiction". -- Harry Harrison, author of Adventures of the Stainless Steel Rat "Let there be light, and let there always be Roger Zelazny". -- Philip Jose Farmer, author of To Your Scattered Bodies Go Psychoshop Bester, Alfred / Best, Alfred / Zelazny, Roger, Vintage Books USA

Alfred Bester; Roger Zelazny:
Psychoshop - gebrauchtes Buch

1995, ISBN: 0679767827

ID: 2271893

This is a posthumous collaboration by two of SF's greatest writers, Alfred Bester and Roger Zelazny. Bester had completed half of the manuscript before his death in 1987, and then Zelazny finished it off before his own passing in 1995. In his introduction to this strange mix, Greg Bear calls the work an improvisational duet, and he is, as usual, right on the mark. This isn't so much a coherent novel as a story passed between two of the genre's more stylish writers. Fans looking for The Demolished Man or Nine Princes in Amber will be disappointed. Instead, what they'll find is the tale of Alf Noir, a reporter who travels to Rome where he finds a 3,000-year-old shop that trades in the strange dealings of the mind. Not only is the shop not what it seems, but its proprietor, Adam Maser, is not what he seems. And soon Alf will come to realize that there is something unusual about himself as well. --Craig E. Details zum Buch
Psychoshop

The Black Place of the Soul-Changer was doing business in Rome six centuries before Christ. It will probably be there on the last day of the cosmos. You might call it a pawnshop, but its sign has three gold infinity symbols instead of the usual balls, and its Latin motto, Res Ullus, translates as "anything". This is the Psychoshop, where you can dump any unwanted aspect of your spirit as long as you exchange it for something else - arcane knowledge, a change of luck, or a sixth sense. Just remember: All sales are final. In this genuinely mind-boggling novel, two of the most unfettered talents in speculative fiction envision a commercial establishment that attracts customers from Edgar Allan Poe to a sorcerer intent on fabricating the Beast of Revelations.
