Verlag: ALLEN & UNWIN INC, 328 Seiten, L=233mm, B=153mm, H=30mm, Gew.=479gr, [GR: 25590 - TB/Geschichte/Sonstiges], [SW: - History - Military / War], Kartoniert/Broschiert, Klappentext: The Australian story of Kokoda has been told often from the perspective of the Australians. Now, for the first time ever, the full Japanese story of Kokoda is told, a poignant tale of comradeship and heartwrending suffering. This is a very human story of the other side, told through the eyes of Japanese soldiers who were there. It draws from a range of firsthand sources--interviews with survivors, diaries that soldiers left behind, memoirs written after the war, and what's survived of the records of the Japanese military. Full of painful recollections and startling wartime revelations, this is the lesser-known story of a tragic battle that continues to haunt survivors from both sides. The Path of Infinite Sorrow: the Japanese on the Kokoda track - gebrauchtes Buch

2009

ISBN: 9781741758399

ID: 773510772

The Australian experience of Kokoda has been told often. The Japanese side of the story however, is not so well known. This book claims to tell, yet again, "for the first time", (despite much published evidence to the contrary), the Japanese version of the campaign. It is based on personal accounts and the recollections of 6 Japanese soldiers, captured diaries and the unit diaries of the Australian forces, however much this last source seems to be contrary to the proposed theme. This re-examination of Kokoda aims to bring a new perspective to one of the most brutal conflicts in Australian war history; prior to their involvement in the recent and never-ending Middle East campaigns at the behest of global banking moguls whose inveterate greed is now attempting to cut the Australian Armed Forces payroll to a level below that of inflationary cost-of-living expenses, despite the supreme sacrifice that the active enlisted are brainwashed into making., Allen & Unwin, 2009
