From Literary Times Once again, Anne Eames delivers her special brand of writing that is witty, fast-paced and fun. A Marriage Made in Joeville is set in the fictitious town of Joeville, Montana-- otherwise known as Joe, Montana to the locals. Here, the Malone brothers-- Ryder, Shane and Joshua-- run the Malone ranch. And it is here that Savannah Smith has come to find her high school friend Ryder Malone. Savannah isn't the same chubby, self-conscious, mousy girl she used to be. With the help of her best friend Jenny, Savannah intends to knock Ryder's socks off before revealing her true identity. When Essie (Savannah's initials are S.E.) shows up at the Malone ranch to cook, she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. But soon enough she realizes she doesn't want to leave Montana-- or the man she has always loved. Ryder hasn't changed much from the teenage boy Savannah used to know. He's still got a chip on his shoulder and his problems with his father and the past still haven't been resolved. But now Ryder has a new problem-- what to do about Billy, the little boy that has captured his heart. Essie is an added complication in Ryder's life-- a very attractive complication he just can't afford. Ms. Eames has created a host of memorable characters that readers will love. A Marriage Made in Joeville is the first in a three book series entitled The Montana Malones. Ryder is a wonderfully complex character dealing with issues of family, trust and responsibility. Savannah is every girl in high school who didn't quite fit in. Unfortunately, Savannah's character doesn't seem quite as well drawn as Ryder's. Perhaps this is because Ryder has so many aspects of his life to resolve and Savannah's main issue is getting Ryder. However, this is only a minor flaw in an otherwise charming novel with a very special story of friendship and love, as well as a fascinating subplot involving Billy and his mother. This reviewer can't wait for the next book in this promising series!Anne Eames never disappoints! A true gem in romantic fiction! A very special author destined for a long and prosperous future! Anne Eames deserves all the praise she gets! The Montana Malones promises to be a memorable series! Anne Eames takes her show on the road... to Montana... and proves she is a force to be reckoned with!Kristina Wright -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. AN UNFORGETTABLE STORY OF LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, AND TRADITION When Maude Chambliss first arrives at Retreat, the seasonal home of her husband's aristocratic family, she is a nineteen-year-old bride fresh from South Carolina's Low Country. Among the patrician men and women who reside in the summer colony on the coast of Maine, her gypsy-like beauty and impulsive behavior immediately brand her an outsider. She, as well as everyone else, is certain she will never fit in. And of course, she doesn't. .. at first. But over the many summers she spends there, Maude comes to cherish life in the colony, as she does the people who share it with her. There is her husband Peter, consumed with a darkness of spirit; her adored but dangerously fragile children; her domineering mother-in-law, who teaches her that it is the women who possess the strength to keep the colony intact; and Maine native Mica Willis, who is ultimately Maude's truest friend. , This brilliant novel, rich with emotion, is fIlled with appealing, intense, and indomitable characters. Anne Rivers Siddons paints a portrait of a woman determined to preserve the spirit of past generations-and the future of a place where she became who she is ... a place called COLONY "An outstanding multigenerational novel.. .. We are hooked from the moment we meet Maude," ISBN 0-06-109970-8 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

, Harper, 1993, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.: Warner Books Inc, 1995. His father murdered, his birthright stolen, he was forced to flee to America with his mother, Maggie Mackinnon. Since boyhood he has had one goal: to return to Scotland for revenge. Now Fletcher is determined to regain the title of Duke of Glengarry ... and God help anyone who stands in his way. A TIME FOR EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN Some women recognize their fate. Cathleen Lindsay is such a woman, a preacher's granddaughter innocent in the ways of passion but wise in the ways of the heart. And when Fletcher Ramsey rides into her life, she knows him for what he is: a man who is her opposite in every way, a man who sees her and his future in one grand vision ... his to fight for, to possess, and to forever love. Prologue Northern California, March 1878 The time was late. The house was still. The dream came to him again, for the first time in ten years. Fletcher Ramsay slept fitfully, consumed by a drowsy numbness, troubled by haunting dreams. A sudden gust of wind blew into the room, wailing like a woman's sorrow and sending a shower of imaginary leaves skittering across the floor. Out of the darkness and into his room a silent guest had come, lingering in the hovering shades of night. His eyes opened. Was he awake, or asleep? He couldn't see a thing, and yet he saw himself standing in an unknown place, upon a dark, unfamiliar summit, looking down at a wild and churning sea. And all about him, the world lay infinitely still. It was night, nothing more than a shadow of darkness upon a treeless moor, yet the crags were white as milk and the moon pale as cream. Overhead, the stars hung thick in a black velvet night. The wind carried the smell of a pungent sea and the haunting lilt of bagpipes. He saw his homeland, a place of bleak heath and shaggy wood, of high corries and stormy seas, and against a gleam of fading light, he saw the ghostly spires of a castle rising in silhouette, infinitely gray, infinitely silent, and calling out to him. Lightning ripped the sky. A brilliant, blinding light appeared before him, and something seemed to suspend time. From the intense brightness a man came forth, dressed in white and hovering just above the ground. His being shone, and his countenance was one of immeasurable beauty. Wait, Fletcher. The time is soon .... The wind died down, and the eerie moans of a voice hung in the air, as dry and flintlike as the ancient syllables of a Gaelic chant, before fading away. The vision dimmed, becoming no more than a pale vapor, growing obscure, then disappearing completely. But like a faded flower whose fragrance lingers, the memory stayed. Fletcher closed his eyes. The speaking silence of the dream had passed, and at last his body slept. But his mind could find no rest. His soul was awakened. His spirit was ready. It was now twenty-one years since the murder of his father, Bruce Ramsay, the Duke of Glengarry. The year was 1878 and Fletcher Ramsay was twenty-eight. The time had come. About this title: Colleen McCullough sets this novel in Australia--the locale for her immensely popular THE THORN BIRDS--to tell the story of a happily married family man, a tavern-keeper in England, whose life changes when a young woman leads him astray. He loses his family and his livelihood, finds his life in danger, and is deported to Australia's Botany Bay, where he is ultimately able, against the odds, to begin again. Take a long voyage deep into the 18th century with Colleen McCullough, a novelist for readers with a big appetite for historical slices of life. In Morgan's Run, her mild-mannered hero is a Bristol tavern owner's son with a God-given gift for crafting the Brown Bess flintlock musket. This is handy, because England plans to employ it to put down the mutinous American colonies. McCullough knows this firearm right down to the last flange and frizzen spring--how its .753-inch ball shatters bones and butchers bellies and how you have to work up a mouthful of spit, then bite the paper containing the powder to moisten and rupture it before firing. And like a master gunsmith, McCullough assembles all the elements necessary to give the novel flash and impact: rogues and heroes, salty dialect, period detail, vicious intrigue, comic relief, betrayal, and unexpected romance. She also knows just how her master of the crafts of tavern-keeping and musket-making would fit into the vast mechanism of history as the American victory wrecks Britain's economy and forces the crown to send convicts elsewhere. Richard gets a job with a rum distillery, but his sharp-eyed efficiency undoes him: one day he finds "a number of pipes hidden among festoons of spider-web," one of which is diverting 800 gallons a week to dodge taxes, a hanging offense. He unwisely reports this, which lands him in a net of corruption. Soon he is sentenced to various convict ships anchored in England, and then to a slave ship bound for Botany Bay in the new penal colony, Australia. But save your pity! Richard rises to the terrible occasion. "Prison had given him a star to steer by, and his own will had swelled sails he did not even know he possessed." Though McCullough doesn't quite reach the literary heights of Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander or Robert Hughes's The Fatal Shore, she shares some of their virtues. Morgan's Run is a good old-fashioned adventure novel with the unflagging energy and raffish cast of an action movie. She considered calling it Morgan's Dirty Dozen, and it would have lived up to that title, too. Product Description: Colleen McCullough captivated millions with her beloved worldwide bestseller The Thorn Birds. Now she takes readers to the birth of modern Australia with a breath-taking saga brimming with drama, history, and passion. It was one of the greatest human experiments ever undertaken: to populate an unknown continent with the criminals of English society. For Richard Morgan, twelve months as a prisoner on the high seas would be just the beginning in a soul-trying test to survive in a hostile new land where, against all odds, he would find a new love and a new life. From the dank cells of England's prisons to the unforgiving frontier of the eighteenth-century outback, Morgan's Run is the epic tale of one man whose strength and character helped settle a country and define its future. Review: This is the first book I have ever read by Colleen McCullough so I was able to open this book with no expectations. The novel was descriptive, precise, and extremely thought provoking. She is a wonderful writer. It was obvious to me (even before I knew anything of the writer) that much investigation had been done in preparation for this book. She entertained me enormously. I have read many reviews here that hint they were not especially pleased with Richard Morgan's last great love, I on the other hand beleive the choice was perfect. I also enjoyed her descriptive narratives about all the little things, such as making Brown Bess, and the art of sharpening saw blades. How can a book really take you back to the time period . 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

, Pocket Books, 2002, U.S.A.: Pocket Books, 2002. 1st Printing. Mass Market Paperback. How can a book really take you back to the time period without giving a person a glimpse or two of the way things actually were? I cannot wait for the sequel to this novel. I have found out that the settlement on Norfolk Island did not last, which makes me wonder what direction she will take for the sequel. I am waiting impatiently for the next installment. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" Tall.

, Pocket Books, 2002, U.S.A: Avon Books, 1995. Mass Market Paperback. As strange as things are, Priscilla finds that she is adjusting to life in 1880. She runs into her ex-fiancé's great-great grandfather, the first J. Ackerly Frost. END Of THE QUEST It had all begun with the theft of the Orb that had so long protected the West from the evil God Torak. Before that, Garion had been a simple farm boy. Afterward, he discovered that his aunt was really the Sorceress Polgara and his grandfather was Belgarath, the Eternal Man. Then, on the long quest to recover the Orb, Garion found to his dismay that he, too, was a sorcerer. Now, at last, the Orb was regained and the quest was nearing its end. Of course, the questors still had to escape from this crumblinq enemy fortress and flee across a desert filled with Murgo soldiers searching for them, while Grolim Hierarchs strove to destroy them with dark magic. Then, somehow, they must manage to be in Riva with the Orb by Erastide. After that, however, Garion was sure that his part in these great events would be finished. But the Prophecy still held future surprises for Garion, and for the little princess Ce'Nedra! This continues the magnificent epic of The Belgariad, begun in Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, and Magicians Gambit-a fantasy-set against a background of the war of men, Kings, and Gods that had spanned seven thousand years-a novel of fate, strange lands, and a prophecy that must be fulfilled! THE SHADOW OF SORCERY Within the room sat the nine old Hierarchs, their eyes focused on a huge ruby, trying with the power of their minds to kill Durnik. The rays of the sun distorted the shadow into which Garion had merged himself, forcing him to bend to fit under the ceiling. "Stop!" he roared at the evil old men. "Leave Durnik alone!" One of the men laughed. "We know the trick of the shadow," he sneered, his face filled with contemptuous amusement. ''You can talk and threaten, but that's all you can do. You're just a powerless shade, Belgarion!" Garion reached out and slid his shadowy hand directly into the Grolim's chest. He could feel the heart flutter and the lungs falter as the Hierarch gaped with horror at the arm sticking out from his chest. "Are you going to leave us alone?" Garion asked. He suddenly clenched his fist. The Hierarch screamed. The author of Fantasy Dreaming and Hidden Meaning of Dreams presents the key to deciphering their meaning. Illustrated with more than 150 glowing full-color paintings, this dream "interpreter" can foster real understanding--something simple dream dictionaries, with their one size fits all symbols, just can't. Dreams are personal, so the trick is to figure out what the imagery means to you. Try making a dream map, which can reveal the significance of even slightly remembered snippets; write down those few recalled phrases or mental pictures and begin to work outward, creating links and associations that bring awareness. Go step by step through an interpretation; choose the dream, examine the feelings they evoke, establish an overview of the content, consider the dreamscape, observe the colors and people that appear, and look at the specific details there. Once the dream's meaning reveals itself in all its beautiful clarity, you can begin using them to solve problems, make positive changes in your life, and even recall past lives and predict the future!"Keywords: MIND & BODY Ink markings within text, a bit rubbed. The rational is simple: If the router protecting a network is exposed to hackers, then so is the network behind it. This is a reference for protecting the protectors, and author Thomas Akin supplies all the tools necessary to turn a potential vulnerability into a strength. As a network administrator, auditor or architect, you know the importance of securing your network and finding security solutions you can implement quickly. This succinct book departs from other security literature by focusing exclusively on ways to secure Cisco routers, rather than the entire network. The rational is simple: If the router protecting a network is exposed to hackers, then so is the network behind it. Hardening Cisco Routers is a reference for protecting the protectors. Included are the following topics: The importance of router security and where routers fit into an overall security plan Different router configurations for various versions of Cisco?s IOS Standard ways to access a Cisco router and the security implications of each Password and privilege levels in Cisco routers Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) control Router warning banner use (as recommended by the FBI) Unnecessary protocols and services commonly run on Cisco routers SNMP security Anti-spoofing Protocol security for RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, NTP, and BGP Logging violations Incident response Physical security Written by Thomas Akin, an experienced Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cisco Academic Instructor (CCAI), the book is well organized, emphasizing practicality and a hands-on approach. At the end of each chapter, Akin includes a Checklist that summarizes the hardening techniques discussed in the chapter. The Checklists help you double-check the configurations you have been instructed to make, and serve as quick references for future security procedures. Concise and to the point, Hardening Cisco Routers supplies you with all the tools necessary to turn a potential vulnerability into a strength. In an area that is otherwise poorly documented, this is the one book that will help you make your Cisco routers rock solid.
