Internationaler Buchtitel. In englischer Sprache. Verlag: KARNAC BOOKS, 166 Seiten, L=228mm, B=148mm, H=15mm, Gew.=259gr, [GR: 25360 - TB/Psychoanalyse], [SW: - Psychology], Kartoniert/Broschiert, Klappentext: Over the course of the last fifty years, research has shown that the ability of the fetus to feel, experience, and perceive is much greater than had previously been supposed, yet debate continues concerning sensations of fear, aggression, and relating the "self" to the environment of the womb. Using theoretical and clinical material, Philippe Ploye summarizes previous work on the significance of prenatal behavior in psychotherapy and expands on this body of work to provide an informative and constructive account of the ways in which life before birth can both foreshadow problems experienced in postnatal life and can mirror the close, dependent nature of the relationship between patient and analyst established in a psychotherapeutic context. Ploye's text reveals a continuity of experience from prenatal stages to adulthood and will appeal to all psychotherapists interested in the development of human behavior from conception onwards and the implications of this for the concept of the self. Ploye, Philippe:
Prenatal Theme in Psychotherapy - neues Buch

ISBN: 9781855753648

This book is an attempt to examine whether patients in analysis or therapy can sometimes be said to form a kind of transference that not only operates at a prenatal level but can also lend itself to interpretation just like any other postnatal level of transference.Philippe Ploye considers whether the prenatal condition, usually conceived from a psychological point of view as one of objectless, pre-ambivalent fusion with the mother, would be capable of being relived and reenacted later in the form of a object-directed, aggressive, as well as libidinal, "foetal" form of relatedness to the therapist. The author looks at how this information might be best used in clinical practice, and the difficulty of communicating these "findings" to patients in a way that helps them by meaning something to them. He also looks at the question of whether the countertransference, too, can sometimes be seen to operate at pre/or perinatal level. There are also chapters on the possible role of the placenta in ego development and placenta symbolism, and a review of some of the literature concerning the pretnatal stage.
