Ernesto Neto: The Edges of the World - Taschenbuch

2009, ISBN: 1853322849

[SR: 1130068], Paperback, [EAN: 9781853322846], Hayward Gallery Publishing, Hayward Gallery Publishing, Book, [PU: Hayward Gallery Publishing], 2009-12-23, Hayward Gallery Publishing, Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto (b. 1964) has established over the past 20 years an international reputation for his work. His influences range from the European modernist artists Alexander Calder and Constantin Brancusi to his Brazilian predecessors Lygia Clark, Helio Oiticica and Amilcar de Castro. He has been the subject of major solo exhibitions in New York and Paris and has been included in major group shows including the Carnegie International (1999) and the Venice Biennale (2001). Neto's biomorphic nylon sculptures and multi-sensory environments exist, in the artist's words, as 'a place of sensations, a place of exchange and continuity between people'. This important survey is published to accompany an exhibition in which Neto will reimagine the Hayward Gallery's concrete spaces and brutalist architecture with a new site-specific commission and a number of new sculptural works. The work will incorporate the Hayward's outdoor sculpture terraces, creating an interrelated series of spaces in which the relationships between inside and outside are provocatively reconfigured. This book surveys Neto's career to date, containing texts by key international scholars and a new interview with the artist by Ralph Rugoff. Fully illustrated with plates of his major commissions, it also includes stunning photographs of the dramatic new Hayward commission., 267763, Sculpture, 91, Art, Architecture & Photography, 1025612, Subjects, 266239, Books, 266898, History of Art & Architecture, 758890, Miscellaneous Biographies, 267815, Styles & Movements, 91, Art, Architecture & Photography, 1025612, Subjects, 266239, Books
